Team 3: Marketsq

An affordable e-commerce and inventory management platform for SMEs.

The Team:

Israel Ayomide Fehintola

Esther Bassey

Emile Ngabo

Adewale Ogunleye

Problem:

Nigeria currently has about 41.9 million registered SMEs, with about 60% of them specializing in wholesale and retail. Data has also shown that about 70% of them will fold up in the first 2 years of establishment, with poor record keeping,  poor customer management and inaccurate customer information ranking high among the problems which lead to the closure of such businesses.

Solution:

Our e-commerce platform has the functionalities of inventory management and customer targeting, which will save about 60% of the SMEs that are doomed to fail and will also contribute about 10% to their growth, according to the data from the Nigerian Bureau of Statistics. This therefore means that our project will save millions of SMEs, protect people's means of livelihood and contribute immensely to the fight against unemployment.

Marketsq is planned to be a host for many SMEs which will be grouped and displayed according to their niche. When buyers access the platform, they will be directed to the group offering the particular product they need. It is a user friendly platform developed using ReactNative for the front end and Code Igniter for the back end. It runs on a secured 128 bit-SSL encryption . The platform will have web, mobile and desktop applications for optimum functionalities. The UI/UX is designed in a simple way with more infographics to  make it easy for users to navigate the platform.
